MG Car Club Canberra Inc. (MGCCC) is pleased to host the Gathering of the Faithful (GoF) Event to be held in Canberra over the weekend 18-21 September 2026.
This Event will continue the tradition of the GoF Event hosted by MGCC Wagga Wagga. The Event will offer a range of motoring and social events to be held in and around the Canberra region as well as time to relax or enjoy some of Canberra's many attractions.
Program
Much of the GoF Program is centered around the vibrant inner suburban shopping precinct of Dickson, which boasts a myriad of exceptional restaurants, and all events kickoff within a 5 to 10 minute drive from this location. The Program has been purposefully arranged to provide free time for participants to relax, or to explore the many national attractions available in Canberra. The timing of the event has been especially chosen to coincide with the iconic Canberra Floriade Festival.
Formal GoF events will conclude with a lunch at Yass on Sunday following the Discovery Run on sealed country roads. This is to enable those with limited time to commence their journey home. However, for those with a bit more time, there will be further optional events available on Sunday evening and Monday.

Display
The display will be held at Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC) on Acton Arena, a grassed area adjacent to the Capital Region Farmers Market. The Farmers Market provides an opportunity for visitors to spend some time browsing the various stores, enjoy a coffee or sample some of the tempting tasty delights. We also anticipate a lot of interest from the general public in this display of MG cars, with plenty of opportunities to 'fly the MG flag' by talking with the public about the special joy of owning and driving your MG.
In the tradition of previous GoF Events, all vehicles on Display will be automatically entered into 'pride-of-ownership' judging for the standout cars within each class.
There are also a number of public transport options from the EPIC site to other destinations in Canberra, including the nearby light rail stop for travel into the Canberra CBD or the opposite direction to Gungahlin town centre with its variety of shopping options. Further details are available on the EPIC website here.
Discovery Run
A Discovery Run will be held on Sunday 20 September that briefly takes in some of Canberra's iconic landmarks before crossing the Murrumbidgee River and heading out of the Australia Capital Territory on sealed "back roads" to traverse a historic farming district and an internationally-significant fossil field on your way to the rural township of Yass. Parking has been arranged on a grassed park next to the Yass River with a short stroll up the main street to the historic Yass Memorial Hall for lunch. A casual country lunch, in the tradition of a Wagga GoF spread, will be provided by the ladies of the Yass Hospital Auxiliary.
For those wanting to explore more of the region after lunch, there are a number of attractions to explore in Yass (including Cooma Cottage, the historic home of explorer Hamilton Hume) and in nearby Murrumbateman (a world-class 'cool-climate' wine production area with numerous cellar doors) on your way back to Canberra.
Optional Events
There will be a pay-as-you-go dinner at the picturesque Gungahlin Lakes Golf Club on Sunday evening.
A farewell breakfast will be held on the foreshores of Lake Burley Griffin at the Black Mountain Peninsula Park.
We also intend to offer a tour of the storage collection of either the National Museum of Australia or the Australian War Memorial on Monday following the farewell breakfast. This is subject to confirmation at the time of writing.
Registration
The organising committee is currently finalising event costs in order to set the registration fees. We are hoping to achieve this over the coming weeks and open Registration by early-May. Registration will occur via an on-line form with EFT payments to be made direct to MGCC Canberra.
